Description

Mindfulness is a nonjudgmental awareness of the present moment. It involves awareness of one’s own thoughts, feelings, and sensations.

RAIN is an acronym for a mindfulness practice in which you…

  • Recognize your experience,
  • Allow it to be just as it is,
  • Investigate it with curiosity, and
  • Nurture it with kindness and self-compassion.

The RAIN acronym was coined by meditation teacher Michele McDonald and further developed by psychologist and Buddhist teacher, Tara Brach.

The RAIN Guided Meditation takes clients through the four steps of RAIN. Professionally recorded audio helps clients slow down, take a break in their day, and fully immerse themselves in the activity.

Note: Once launching the tool, you may download this audio to carry with you on a portable device, or send to clients electronically. Simply click the "Settings" button (gear icon) in the top right corner of the screen. Suggested Uses

Download: You may download a copy of the RAIN exercise audio in MP3 format so you can take it with you, or to share with clients so they can practice outside of session.

Mindfulness practice is an effective intervention for depression, anxiety, and addiction. The benefits of mindfulness practice add up over time, so this exercise can be done daily, or as often as the client needs.
