Countering Negative Thoughts (Thought Log)

Thought logs are a standard CBT tool that can be used to help clients recognize and then challenge their irrational beliefs. This particular thought log includes examples of negative thoughts, and possible rational counter-statements.

We like to use this thought log to help clients practice identifying different ways they could have seen a single situation, and how these perspectives may have affected their feelings about that situation. Try practicing in session with examples from your client's own life.
