About 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have experienced physical abuse by an intimate partner (reference). By broadening this statistic to include other forms of abuse, nearly half of women have been victims (reference). Without education on the subject, other forms of abuse may go unrecognized.
The Types of Abuse worksheet provides a brief description of the different forms of abuse, including examples of each. Use this tool to teach clients about the forms that abuse can take, from overt types, such as physical, to more subtle types, such as psychological. Other forms covered in this handout are sexual, financial, and digital abuse.
We recommend pairing this worksheet with the What is Abuse? information handout.
