My Pyramid of Needs values and goals exploration

My Pyramid of Needs
Ages: 15+
Devices: mobile, tablet, or desktop
Topics: goals, values, decision-making

When you want to achieve a goal, it helps to ask, “What will my life look like once I’ve accomplished this?” This is true whether you’d like to improve a relationship, seek happiness, find a new job, or anything else.

My Pyramid of Needs is a fun way to imagine your goals while sparking moments of insight and self-exploration. It’s easy to get started, but it becomes challenging when you’re asked to choose: What’s truly a need, a want, or a dream?

Suggested uses:

Decision-making: Help clients make difficult choices about big life changes.

Relationship-building: Ask couples to complete the activity together with a shared set of needs, wants, and aspirations.

Values: Help clients explore values as part of ACT or other values-focused therapies.

Safety: Use this tool like Maslow’s hierarchy of needs to explore basic needs.
