Topics: ADHD

Description

Kangaroo is a happy, friendly, and enthusiastic critter who has one big problem: They just can't seem to sit still! Kangaroo gets in trouble for getting up during class and forgetting chores. Even their friends are getting annoyed with the nonstop antics.

Follow along as Kangaroo learns about attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in a beautifully illustrated 15-page digital storybook. Throughout the story, Kangaroo learns about symptoms of ADHD, and a few skills to help manage those symptoms. ADHD is always presented in a way that is non-judgmental and supportive, with a focus on growth and reinforcement.

Suggested Uses

Comparison: Compare the experiences of Kangaroo to those of your young clients. Can your clients relate with Kangaroo? Have they experienced the same symptoms? How about different struggles that Kangaroo did not experience?

Techniques: Kangaroo learns three techniques that are commonly used to help manage ADHD, including deep breathing, creating a routine, and using practical strategies to target trouble areas (e.g. a homework folder for organization). Use this story as a segue to begin teaching and practicing these valuable skills.
