The Nervous Mouse Splash Image

Topics: Anxiety, Worry
Description

The story of The Nervous Mouse teaches children about worry and anxiety with an engaging story full of bright and colorful illustrations. Over the course of 14 pages, children will learn about common sources of anxiety, what it feels like to be anxious, and how to deal with these feelings when they arise.

Suggested Uses

Comparison: Teach children about anxiety by comparing their own triggers and symptoms to those of The Nervous Mouse. Is The Nervous Mouse relatable? Is Mouse different in any way?

Coping Skill Practice: During the course of the story, The Nervous Mouse learns several techniques to control anxiety. Pause whenever Mouse learns a skill and try it out.

Relaxation Skills Worksheet: Print the accompanying Relaxation Skills worksheet to help children remember the lessons learned from The Nervous Mouse.

Coloring Page The printable coloring page can be used just for fun, or as a therapeutic activity. We suggest asking children to color the parts of Mouse's body where they feel anxiety. For example, they might color the stomach green to show that they get sick when they're nervous.
