Self-Compassion how to feel happier every day

We all know we can never be perfect—it’s an absurd expectation. But that doesn’t stop many of us from trying! We hold ourselves to impossible standards, picking apart the things we say, how we look, and what we do. We’re often downright mean to ourselves.

Well, what would happen if we tried something different? What if we tried being kind to ourselves?

Self-compassion is about accepting that you aren’t perfect, but being kind and fair to yourself anyway. It’s about shrugging off those times you put your foot in your mouth, learning to love that quirky part of your appearance, and appreciating your effort even when things don’t turn out perfectly.

In our How to Practice Self-Compassion video, Woody Schuldt, LMHC, explains why self-compassion is so important and gives tips for making it part of everyday life. This video is for those who struggle with low self-esteem or depression, feel insecure in relationships, or have trouble living up to their high standards.
