The Cognitive Behavioral Model

This essential CBT worksheet depicts the cognitive model in an accurate and easy-to-understand manner. Use this printout as an aid to help teach clients how their thoughts and feelings interact, and eventually result in a behavior.

CBT requires that clients have a strong understanding of the model that the theory is based upon, and the use of this visual guide will help you achieve that goal. We suggest that you discuss several examples from your client's own life while introducing them to the cognitive model. Don't just send them home with a printout, a thought log, and no discussion. If you do, you probably won't get anything back!
