guided audio activity

Body Scan Meditation Splash Image

Ages: 12+

Devices: Mobile, Tablet, or Desktop

Topics: Anxiety, Relaxation, Mindfulness

Description

In this Body Scan Meditation, listeners focus on the physical sensations throughout their body. They will attend to sensations—such as the feeling of clothing on their skin, or tension within their muscles—without judging or trying to change them. The objective is to simply notice and accept the physical feelings throughout the body.

Listeners begin by focusing on the sensations in their feet, slowly moving up, attending to each section of the body in turn. This exercise helps listeners cultivate mindfulness by focusing on the “here-and-now" instead of worries or other thoughts. With regular mindfulness practice, the benefits may generalize to other parts of the day.

Suggested Uses

Education: Teach clients how to perform body scan meditation. After using the audio, clients will be equipped to continue practicing with or without an audio guide in the future.

Practice: This audio wasn't created only to teach the exercise—it can be used for regular daily practice.

Download: You're welcome to download a copy of the body scan meditation in MP3 format so you can take it with you and use it whenever you need (but please, not while driving!). The license on this exercise also allows you to share the audio file with your clients so they can practice at home.
