My North Star values exercise

Acting according to our values gives life purpose and direction, but it’s easy to get sidetracked by less important things.

My North Star worksheet offers a simple way to reconnect with what matters most. Clients come up with a value (family, health, creativity, etc.) and then identify three small actions they can take in this direction. The completed worksheet serves as a map to stay on course between sessions.

Inspired by acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), this resource supports committed action—taking steps toward one’s values even in the midst of struggle. Some clients may need help with identifying actions that are concrete, within their control, and doable over the short term. Emphasize the power of small, consistent behaviors over vague ambitions.
